From the 356 to the New 911.
While products and technologies designed and created by Porsche now look back at
more than100 years of successful history, the first car bearing the brand name
Porsche was homologated by the state government of Kärnten in Austria only 50
years ago on 8 June 1948 - the very first Porsche 356 to see the light of day.
The intellectual and, indeed, spiritual "father" of the car was Professor
Ferdinand "Ferry" Porsche, who died on 27 March 1998 at the age of 88.
Never-ending story.
At the1963 Frankfurt Motor Show, the story of Porsche was continued with the
world-famous 911. The Porsche 911 now looks back at the longest production run
of any sports car in the world. WWelcome to Speedsters.com The
official website of the Speedsters Club with over 3m hits a year.
This site is for people who own original Porsche 356 Speedsters or replicas and
enthusiasts who are in the process of building or restoration.hich
explains why Porsche aficionados already speak of the "never-ending story".
The 911 has been in production since the mid-1960s. After reviewing all the magnificent Porsches produced during this 35-year run, we have singled out one model as the purest expression of the 911 concept &endash; the Early 911S. Made during a brief seven-year period (1967 through 1973), the early 911S is a no-compromise factory "hot rod." It is easily capable of breathtaking performance in both acceleration and handling, and it screams like a banshee at high revs - a sound unlike any other Porsche.
The light, lithe and powerful characteristics of the early 911S give it a direct, visceral connection with the road that can only be described as phenomenal. These qualities made our decision easy &endash; we regard the early 911S as the ultimate production 911. It is exactly what the factory had in mind before the concept was blurred by the smog-strangled engines and ever-increasing weight of later models.
Our group is an association of enthusiasts who pay homage to this remarkable machine. We attempt to fulfill two main functions: First, our quarterly newsletter ("The Esses") is an open forum designed to promote communication among members. It contains technical articles, editorials, questions and answers, columns by our Board of Advisors, personal "S" stories from our members and lots of other information. Second, the Early 911S Registry also compiles a list of as many of the early S's as possible, including serial numbers, original equipment, owners, modifications, etc. This data can be used by members to verify the chain of ownership through the years and provides an accurate record of what has and hasnít been done to the cars.
You do not need to own an early 911S to join!
Since most of the information we publish pertains to all early 911 Porsches, we welcome owners of any early 911, including the 911T, 911E, 911L and the rare 911R, 911S/T and 911RS. In fact, you don't even need to own a Porsche to be part of our group. All you need is an appreciation for the car and a desire to communicate with like-minded individuals. If this sounds like something you might enjoy, please contact us, or use the membership form.
Check us out, but beware, what you experience may be habit forming.

When you contact us, we can first start with determining exactly what you are looking for, or indeed with trying to establish what car would be most suitable for you, if you haven't got a particular choice in mind. All this advice and information will be absolutely free of charge.
When you have decided on a particular type of Classic Car, we will set out to source that particular model as close to what you are looking for as possible. For a nominal fee of IRP 20, we can compile a full listing of cars that would be available at the various dealerships accross Europe, so that you can make a choice of the specific car you would like to pursue. In these cases I would certainly encourage people to go for the car in the best possible condition for their budget, because we believe that for most models, the cost of restoration would seriously outweigh the resulting value of the car. This would guarantee the longest hasslefree and most pleasant enjoyment of your Classic Car.
After determining a possible candidate, we will set out to obtain an indepent engineers report or assessment on the car in the respective country, to make sure there are no hidden problems. Only when you are happy with the car, we will proceed with the purchase. Our aim is to ensure that the condition of the car is Crystal Clear, before we even consider to look into it as a possible candidate.
As we only deal with reputable Classic Car dealerships in the Netherlands and UK, we are eliminating the potential hazards of shady private dealers with dressed up rustbuckets. All the companies we will be using, have their names to protect and some of them even give warranties or guaranteed exchange rates on the car you purchase with them.
I am sure that once you have read through as far as you did, we do not need to convince you of the benefits of owning a Classic Car (if you are still not entirely sure, please read through the Benefits section). What we do hope to bring across is that Classic Cars Ireland was established out of love for Classic Cars, and not to make a quick profit.
We would really love to hear from you, whether you would want more information, you have comments about this website, you want us to import or sell a car for you, or you just want to talk about Classic Cars. Contact us in any of the ways described in the Contact Details sections.
